After abundant summer days, September is bringing some lower temperatures but no rain to speak of. Cooler evenings and shorter days. Dahlias, Sunflowers, Cosmos, Chrysanthemums, Sedum, Hydrangeas, Japanese Anemonies and of course the hardy Roses are not faced by any of this, they still keep going until at least the end of the month and into October until the first frost will bring an end to all this abundance. Amaranth, Millet, Asters and many Grass varieties besides, can also be found in a September bouquet.
I am a florist and urban flower farmer, I grow my flowers sustainably in underused and neglected areas in my North Portland neighborhood. I make floral designs for all sorts of occasions and also peddle flowers at the flower market. View all posts by Marianna
